SOUTH ASIA – ID 222

The Family and their Ministry

We’re Rachael and Jason serving in South Asia. We begin our term February 2022 and are unsure when we will take our first furlough. It will be somewhere between 2-4 years.

We have 4 children. Mikayla (04/2010), Shane (06/012), Samantha (03/2019), and Ethan (10/2021)

The first one to two years will be focused on language study and cultural acquisition. If they would like to do some language study as well, that could be arranged. We will have national house help, so they can build relationships with them, or neighbors etc. Following language study we will be moving to the hospital compound. There will be ample opportunity for ministry there.

The primary duty will be tutoring the two older children. Both kids are enrolled in an online Christian Academy so there is no need to prepare curriculum etc. Mikayla is fairly independent but requires monitoring to make sure she is doing her work properly, along with the occasional need for help. Shane is dyslexic and struggles with attention issues so requires more help. He is not hyperactive but does get overwhelmed at times so needs someone who can be patient and confident with him. The kids do schoolwork M-F 9:30-12:00 usually. The afternoons would be more flexible but could use help monitoring the children to allow for more language study time.

We will have house staff (it’s a requirement culturally) that takes care of the house hold duties. We would like to have someone as soon as proper accommodations can be arranged.
