AFRICA - Johannesburg. Lots of activities. This family needs the children to experience some stability in their school work regardless of their moving about. Two girls ages 10 and 11 are currently in Grades 4 and 5. The ideal would be for someone to co- teach with the mother. Mom is responsible for English/Geography/ History while the volunteer would help with Science, Math and afternoon activities. Other time will be divided between PA work research and helping to drive the kids to afternoon activities in Pretoria and working in a slum area one day a week with the vulnerable children. AFRICA - South Africa, Empangeni, Richards Bay Airport. A young couple is establishing a home for orphaned and abandoned babies and need help taking care of them. They normally have 6 babies at a time and obviously there is plenty of work to do to feed, clothe, rock and assist them as they start out in life. They are with the International Orphan Network and are kept very busy organizing, feeding and fetching from school and taking in babies arriving at the home. The need is great. The Nanny can help with tasks including meal prep, babysitting, food shopping - but no house-cleaning. The couple currently have one son 12 years and identical twin daughters born 2002. Mom needs to stay with him at all times (no individual nurses in Japan). Meanwhile Dad is working and trying to keep the house running with daughters ages 11 and 14 who need home schooling. A couple on the outskirts of ROME, near the IBEI Bible Institute, with two young boys, ages 4 and 6, need child care while Mom is at work (only Dad is completely fluent in English, Mum speaks some English). Dad is involved in Inter-cultural outreach, outreach to Bangladeshi people, discipling Italians, working towards a Refugee Ministries Center and tutoring Distance Study students for a Bible School. A young couple have been here since 2008. They established a mission board, Siloe Ministries, and are involved in a local church and community with Christian day care, rehab center and orphanage. They provide health care in a small primary care clinic and plan medical and non-medical outreaches to the surrounding communities. He preaches and leads Bible studies and is the administrator of the ministry. She sees patients at the local clinic 2-3 days a week and does house calls as needed. She is the "on-call" health care provider for the day care and the orphanage. They have 2 daughters born 2006 and 2009 and are in real need of someone to come to help them with child care and home schooling 3 full days a week and other times when needed for emergency situations; one Sunday a month while Mom travels to other ministries and hopefully for an occasional "date-night". This couple founded the River of Life Care Home Ministry and have between 15-21 mothers with young children, a staff of 9, and many ministry outreaches including care of elderly women and camps for children and young adults. The home is for mothers who want to keep their children and babies and not abort or abandon them. The children range in age from newborns, toddlers, preschoolers and up. They also care for their own two children born 2005 and 2008 who live with them on the property. They have no financial resources or social support system, little or no education or job skills and are medically and socially at risk. Over the years they have helped 140 women and children. They do live productive and meaningful lives of service to others there. They need someone to help care for the two children and perhaps help a few hours in the afternoon with learning activities and playground supervision. Six days a week (which is flexible).
