Mission Nannys News and Prayer Requests From the Field

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:22-23

MISSION NANNYS PRAYER LETTER – APRIL 15, 2018

Rebecca (20) Italy – writes: “By the time you will have received this letter, I will have returned to the United States from my time in Italy. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity and the honor to serve the family here, and I look forward to the day that we will meet again. Although I will not be on the mission field by the time this goes out, I would appreciate prayer for the family and for myself to have an easy transition after I have gone back to the States. Please pray for another willing person to be available to serve the family soon. Thank you so much for praying for me and for this family throughout the past three months. May God bless you as you continue to serve those in ministry through prayer.”

Kelli (22) Fiji Islands – writes: “Greetings everyone. I have been here a month already in Fiji and I have had a few firsts. To start, on Easter Sunday the three Pittman girls (ages 15, 13, 9) and myself woke up only to find out that we had just been through a cyclone. That was also my first cyclone. I was home with the girls because Ray and Laura were away for the week and I guess you could say that I wasn’t too scared because I didn’t know it was a cyclone until it was over. The area that we live in, there is one way to get in, and that area was under water. So we were stuck inside for a few days. The house did not flood, the electricity only went out a few times and we still had water, so we were fine. There are so many other people that weren’t so fortunate though. It makes me appreciate everything so much. But by the time you are reading this update, Fiji will have been through another cyclone. They are saying that this one is going to be stronger and for me, it is a little scarier because we know it’s coming. It’s been a week since the last one and people are still trying to recover from the last one. So please pray for Fiji! I can’t stress that enough! Another experience that comes with living in the tropics is that I got my first boil. Thankfully it is going and healing but that was a little scary for me because it was big and red. But all aside from what has been going on, days with the girls have their ups and downs. Some days go better than others and through it all, I am learning to trust God better. I ‘m learning to go to HIM when I can’t handle it. Since coming to Fiji I have started doing devotions and I find it beneficial. It helps me stay sane when I felt like the world is spinning. God is my rock, and he is right here with me until the end. Thank you so much for all of the prayers!”

Valerie (53) SE Asia – writes: “I arrived safely here in China and have been with the family for two weeks. The boys are very, very, VERY energetic, but oh-so-adorable! It’s been a wonderful time settling in and helping out with the various tasks.” Pray for her. She is on the 6th floor with the family and no elevator, and is watched wherever she goes. Although Christianity is tolerated here, it is becoming more and more difficult to gather and worship together. Unregistered churches (underground churches, small groups, home churches) are increasingly being targeted. Foreigners are allowed to worship and come and go at will; it is the locals who are facing persecution, intimidation, and pressures. Please lift them up in prayer for protection, strength, and courage. Please pray that I will have the patience and endurance to keep up with the three boys, ages 4, 6 and 8, as we play soccer constantly. I’m not as fast as I used to be and it is hard to keep up with these active guys.”

In addition to serving in SE Asia, see story above, Valerie is also serving as Volunteer Coordinator for Mission Nannys. Valerie coordinates the placement of nannys with serving families. If you’re a family currently serving and want to learn more about finding a nanny to help you or if you’re someone with questions about serving as a nanny please contact Valerie at  nannypartners@gmail.com

On January 15, 2017 they assumed the running of Mission Nannys. Betty is now 91 years of age and just unable to continue the functioning of Mission Nannys. In addition to MissionNannys.org they also operate MissionFinder.org and MissionMinder.com.  Their desire with MissionNannys is to assist and help missionaries around the world by sending people to love and care for their needs – such as many with younger children in need of loving care and school instruction.

Under Betty’s leadership, Mission Nannys served from 1991 to 2016 sending 325 volunteers to help out many missionary families – we rejoice that will continue. Eye of the Needle. Be sure to contact Valerie at nannypartners@gmail.com or David at david@missionfinder.org if you want to serve a needy missionary family. Thanks!
